~ is set to /tmp for user root

This is at least unusual. Why shouldn't we put root to /root as always?

If you haved looked correctly you would see root had of course his own directory! Because we work on an embbeded device and the whole / is read only in a squashfs+lzma partition the /root directory has to placed else there.

So take a deeper look in the filesystem! The /root directoy is linked to /usr/root

What you see only the path of the login shell! And again, we work on an embbeded device! There is not really a good reason to work as root.
